Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter Recognized for Outstanding Service by Prosecuting Attorneys and Law Enforcement
(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) – Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter was the recipient of the Eugene “Shine” Feller award in recognition for outstanding service and contribution on behalf of prosecuting attorneys and law enforcement in the State of Indiana. Carter is the first and only Attorney General to be presented the award in its 33-year history.
“I want to thank Steve for the quiet dignity with which he served the people of Indiana,” said Steve Johnson, executive director of the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council.
The Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council’s membership consists of all the prosecuting attorneys in Indiana and their chief deputies. The “Shine” Feller award was presented to Carter at the 2008 Winter Conference held at the Marriott Downtown from Dec. 7-10. The event drew a record attendance of nearly 400 participants for the series of training and education presentations.
Carter is pleased to have worked with prosecutors and law enforcement throughout the state as the attorney general.
“The public expects the law enforcement community to work together and I think this recognition is evidence that we have been able to do just that,” said Carter. “We have worked on various issues with our prosecutors including public corruption, environmental and healthcare issues."
Carter has also served as President of the National Association of Attorneys General in 2005 and 2006.
He has served as Attorney General for the State of Indiana since 2001.
